Herbal Teas
In the herb section we have included a range of plants, using not just leaves, but also flowers, roots, bark and seeds. It is important for you to realise that you should consult a physician and/or a medicinal herbalist in all matters relating to health before making any significant lifestyle or dietary changes. Please see the disclaimer for more details.

Herbal teas exist in a kaleidoscope of distinctively different flavours, colors and aromas. Blending the flavours of different herbs results in an infinite variety of healthful taste sensations, and in fact, this kind of exploration is one of the most delightful pleasures to be found in the making of herb tea. Herb teas contain no caffeine at all. This lack of caffeine has helped to account for its mellow, soothing personality - and thus its growing popularity in today's hectic, high-pressured world.

As a cultural entity, herb tea is surrounded by more myth, legend and folklore than its Chinese cousin, black tea. The history of herbs is as old as mankind. Archaeologists believe that prehistoric people used herbal concoctions to treat physical complaints long before the dawn of written history. Throughout history, herbs have had their place in every civilisation in the world, with their usage changing very little as the centuries passed.

Ancient cultures wrote of the lavish use of herbs for medicine, food, beverages and dyes. Many European villages had resident herbalists; and many of these traditional remedies were brought to America. Today modern Americans are using more and more herbs in foods, beverages and the treatment of physical ailments. One of the most popular and enduring uses for herbs, of course, is the making of herb tea.

The drinking of herb teas was widespread in Europe long before the arrival of black tea; and some of the perennial favourite such as chamomile, peppermint and rose hips have long been well known standards. Making Herb Tea. A Tradition of Quality herb teas start with quality herbs and spices from faraway lands. e-teas purchases over a hundred different varieties of the fine quality herbs, spices and fruits from over 35 different countries to make our enchanting teas.

Each herb and spice has its own flavour and taste characteristics ... tangy hibiscus, citrus-like rose hips, apple-like chamomile, soothing peppermint, fruity blackberry leaves, sweet cloves and exotic cinnamon. They create terrific natural taste treats when blended. Certain areas of the earth are better-known than others for producing herbs. Hibiscus, for example, is native to Africa and Mexico, rose hips to South America and blackberry leaves to Eastern Europe.

Once the herbs and spices arrive in, they are inspected and tested again. If they fail to meet any of e-teas strict standards for cleanliness, purity, freshness and flavour, they are rejected. The approved herbs are cleaned and inspected once again, and then sent to the milling room to be cut into different degrees of fineness demanded for individual types of teas.

Finally, they are sifted to achieve uniformity of texture and purity of content necessary for consistent, delicious flavour. The herbs are then blended to match a standard "recipe". The batch is compared with previous blends and readjusted until it is absolutely perfect in terms of consistency, quality and flavour.

It is then carefully packaged to protect the delicate flavour. It costs more to make our teas, but to e-teas, quality is a must.
